I will have the second part of the series, My Personal Handbook: The Break Up Book out in the next 60 days. It is designed to examine why a relationship failed, your role, their role and what cn be done differently in the future to improve your relationships. The third book in the series will be for people who are considering a long term relationship. It is a couples activity book for getting to know one another.

My book on Battered Man syndrome, The Silent Man, will be out next month. I also have a text for mental health providers coming out in August for working with clients who identify as kinky.

What do you think makes a great self-help book?

The best books come from personal experience, are short, to the point and offer activities so that people are able to take in and practice the skills the book is trying to teach.

What inspired you when writing My Personal Handbook?

My clients. I used to give out these activities to my clients as homework. It finally made sense to just compile them and hand them a book on day 1 for our journey together.

What are your ambitions for your writing career? Full time? Part time? When did you decide to become a writer?

I do not see myself as a writer. I see myself as a therapist who wants to make information readily available for those who need it. When I see tends and there is little to no outside information to give my clients, it’s frustrating. So my hope is that my writing will either spur talented writers to do more work in these areas and for clients or lay folks to get information abut topics that are important.

When writing My Personal Handbook did anything stand out as particularly challenging?

Keeping it short and sweet!!!

How did you come up with the ideas and concepts in My Personal Handbook?

Years of clinical work and recognizing a pattern of some basic foundational insights that people seem to lack when making major life decisions.
What do you like to do when not writing?

I love travel and spending time with my family
