Tried in the Fire... My Story Of True Redemption Author Interview

Tried in the Fire looks like a moving story of personal growth and healing. Do you plan any additional books or followups? Yes, I’m actually working on my next book now. It’s called, I Just Wanted Love. It details stories of what individuals have done for love. I have about 4 books in the works right now.

What do you think makes a great personal growth story? The recipe for a great personal growth story to me encompasses a few specific ingredients. The first is transparency- the ability to be open about all of your challenges and failures and not be ashamed. Second, forgiveness- the ability to forgive yourself for the choices you have made and be able to move on. Lastly, I would say that one needs faith in God. Often, when we make mistakes we tend to get down on ourselves and we begin to doubt our abilities. This is where faith in God comes in. If we remove the burden of trying to do everything in our own will and turn everything over to God, we will begin to see growth and prosperity. Remember, You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. Philippians 4:13

What inspired you to write Tried in the Fire and share your story? When I came home from the abusive relationship in April 2009, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and told me that I would need to write a book to share my story to be a help to others. He even gave me the title and I wrote it in the cover of my bible. It took me 6 years to gain the courage to be open and transparent, but I wanted to give God glory through my story in the hope that it would save at least one person.

What are your ambitions for your writing career? Full time? Part time? I aspire to be a full-time Author writing for a big publishing house. I have so many inspiring stories in me. I want to be on the New York Times Best Seller List!!

When did you decide to become a writer? I have always loved to write. When I was a little girl I always wrote little short stories. My father told me that I was going to be an Author one day. I just kind of shrugged it off, never really believing that it would ever be possible.

When writing Tried in the Fire did anything stand out as particularly challenging? The most challenging part of writing my story was being transparent. I didn’t want those close to me to know what I had endured at the hands of my abuser. The more I meditated on it, I realized that sharing my story would benefit so many people, so I set aside my fears of judgment and took a leap of faith.

What do you like to do when not writing? I love to bake. If I am not writing, most likely I am baking, reading, or spending time with my children.
