This Is Where You Pivot looks like a great book.  What can you tell us about it?

This Is Where You Pivot: The Shift from Fear to Freedom came out of a camping trip in the mountains.  It was on that trip that I discovered what the voice of my fear looked and sounded like, and finally understood the power that it was holding over my life.

I struggled for years with self-esteem and confidence, money and career, relationships.  I was walking through life trying to please the people around me, worrying about what they thought about me, and struggling to feel "worthy" of much of anything.  That left me stressed out, unhappy, overweight, and stuck in a vicious cycle where I felt trapped by my own circumstances.

In reality, I was trapped by my own fear.

Once I realized this, I then was able to see that I had the power to choose something else entirely.  That realization put me on an entirely different course in life.  I finally saw that, no matter how the situation felt in the moment, I was never really stuck, lost, or as alone as it might have seemed, and, by choosing something else for myself, I could redirect the fear and focus on living and living my life.

In this book, I share what I have learned about this revelation so that others hopefully see that they, too, are never stuck, lost, or alone. I am very open about my own life here - successes, failures, and lessons learned along the way - all in hopes of inspiring and empowering others to recognize that they are worthy and wonderful and can create the life of their dreams.

Any plans to turn it into a series?

As a matter of fact, it already is part of a series.  This Is Where You Pivot: The Shift from Fear to Freedom is the first of a 3-part series that first helps the reader understand how fear can look and sound in life and how to refocus attention towards bigger and better and brighter things.  Book two is titled The Journey to Healing: Love, Yourself, and is all about what happens after you have made the choice to pivot in your life.  It takes the reader on a journey to understand what self-love looks like.  Each chapter has a "love letter" from me to the reader, and there is a section where the reader can write letters to him/herself.

The final book is Connect You: A Guide to Your Authentic Life, and is a workbook designed to lead the reader to his/her heart. We talk about mindset, authenticity, setting boundaries, and how to create goals that align with what you want for your life.

What section did you have the most fun writing?

Chapter 3 is titled Base Camp, and is where I share some of my experiences from childhood.  While I can't say it was the most fun to write, it did take me back to when I was a kid.  Looking at each situation from the lens of a grownup really was a healing time for me.

I also had a great time working through the editing process.  That was a lot of fun because I was able to take these ideas and start to shape them into the book it has become.

How did you come up with the title for the book?

The title is explained in the book.  You will have to read it and see for yourself! :)

Did anything stick out as particularly challenging when writing This Is Where You Pivot?

I struggled with what to share throughout the writing process.  There was this fear of giving the reader too much information, but at the same time, I wanted to tell a complete story.  The process really challenged my vulnerability.  At the same time, I knew that that was the point. I could choose to sit in that fear, and never write the book, or choose to push past it, and focus on the fact that I was writing in hopes of helping other people.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

When I am not writing, I love to spend time with my family - husband, daughter, 2 dogs and a 3 cats. I love to try new, small, local coffee shops, visit art museums, and I read a lot, and I spend time journaling. I am trying my hand at gardending this year.  Fingers crossed.
